Hair Loss in Men

Hair Loss in Men

Hair loss in men is known as Androgenic Alopecia or male pattern hair loss and although for many men balding is a natural part of the ageing process, for some men it can be a source of much stress particularly younger men.

There are many reasons for hair loss – some can be controlled others are out of our hands.  Here we look at some of the causes of hair loss:

#1 Genetics

Genetics has an essential role in determining whether you will go bald.

There are three main patterns of balding that take place. The first starts at the temple and is called the anterior hairline. It then proceeds to move backwards. The second pattern is at the crown where it usually circles around in a whorl and spreads outwards. The third is found at the mid-frontal scalp and is usually most prominent in Asian men.

#2 Sexual Hormones

Hormones are the major cause of natural balding. Enzymes in male bodies convert testosterone into something called dihydrotestosterone. The amount of dihydrotestosterone is down to genetics, but it is unknown whether the father’s genes or mother’s genes determine how many enzymes are produced. Scientists believe that Asian men have less of this enzyme in their hair, and people believe that therefore they can often keep their hair longer than Caucasian men.

#3 Age

Age is another key factor of balding. Hair loss can occur any time after puberty but the older you get, the higher chance you have of losing your hair. This is also balanced out by the fact that as men reach forty, any hair loss is stable and if occurring at all, tends to do so at a reduced and slower rate than younger men.

#4 Stress

Stress can cause hair loss, but the good news is that this is rarely permanent. There are three distinct types of hair loss that are related to stress:

#5 Diet and Sleeping

Your diet and how well you sleep can affect your hair loss. Your lifestyle is responsible for a lot of bodily defences and functionalities. A good diet can help keep your entire body healthier, including stronger hair.

Relying on junk food can lead to nutritional deficiencies, which may also contribute to baldness. Sleeping helps your body repair and regenerate overnight and it is essential to get as many hours of it as you can.

Although there are no ways of preventing hair loss completely, maintaining a healthy scalp, and caring for the hair you have may help slow down the process.

Celltone Advanced Hair Treatment contains a unique combination of naturally derived ingredients including Kalonji or black seed oil which is proven to penetrate deep into the hair follicle encouraging hair growth.

It also has anti-inflammatory properties which are important as many hair conditions which result in hair loss are as a result of inflammation due to disease, bacteria and fungus.

Men can apply Celltone Advanced Hair Treatment along the hairline or in areas where hair is thinning.  It can also be used over the entire head after shaving to nourish and moisturise the scalp.
